In February I was lucky enough to meet a really lovely guy called Pete Laskas who is the owner operator of Blue Ribbon Gourmet Meats, and my local butcher. I sat down with Pete over a coffee one day and we chatted about life as an athlete and how at times it can be quite difficult financially to keep competing at the highest level. Pete has quite a lot of experience at being an elite athlete as a few years ago he was a member of the Canberra Raiders Rugby League team, so he could understand my commitments to being the best I possibly can be. It is very important for elite athletes to get plenty of protein into their diets and the meat they sell at Blue Ribbon Gourmet Meats is very lean and of the highest possible quality. After a lengthy conversation Pete informed me that he would love to come on board as one of my sponsors.
Blue Ribbon Gourmet Meats provides me with all the meat and chicken I need for my daily diet and I must say the support they have shown me in the past few weeks has been wonderful. I recently had surgery to repair my hamstring and the most important part of my rehabilitation program is for me to eat plenty of lean meat and chicken as the protein is very important in healing my muscles and helping them to grow. I have been eating chicken for lunch and lean beef for dinner and I know it has helped my injury progress beyond belief. I am now 4 weeks ahead of schedule in my rehab program and this week I started back running due to how well my injury has healed.
