Last friday will be a day I wont forget in a hurry. I was in the gym doing my regular morning workout when one of the reception staff came racing over and said to me "Jenno has just had a motorcycle accident out the front". It took a couple of seconds for what she had said to sink in and then i raced out the front to literally bump into Jenno and he said that he had been knocked off his bike by a lady in a red commodore who had not seen him. I immediately checked him head to toe to see what damage had happened to him and I was so relieved to see his only injuries were grazing to knees, elbows and ankles from where he slid along the road after coming off the bike.

What had happened was that he was slowing down to turn into the gym and a lady in a car in front of him just did not see him and spun in front of him doing a u-turn. He smacked into the front of her car and then fell off and lucky enough managed to slide away from the bike so it did not land on him. He still has the commodore imprints in his ankle, which i make him cover up with long socks as it is a real conflict of interest with my Lexus sponsorship!!!!!!!!!!! The lady who collided with him was absolutely distraught, bless her and immediately came to his aid. I think although it was an awful event to happen, two positive things came from the accident. Number one is that Jenno was able to stand up and walk away from the accident and number two is that the lady was not charged with manslaughter or dangerous driving. I think he was a very lucky boy and later in the day I bought him a little gift pack with his 4 favourite things inside it just to say how lucky he was and that he should take the time to enjoy life's simple pleasures. Inside my gift pack was a very nice bottle of shiraz, a cold bottle of leffe Belgium beer, a packet of beef jerky and $20 to go and put in the pokie machine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also I must say a very big thank you to a couple of the Titans rugby league players who happened to be beside the road as Jenno got hit and went straight to help him. So much is often reported about rugby league players getting in strife off the field so its nice to be able to publicly thank them for their kindness and willingness to help someone out.

To my dear partner Jenno, I am just very pleased you are ok and that you have walked away with only scratches and bruises. Although you continue to tell everyone who will listen that on hearing the news of your accident that I raced home to make sure you had signed your life insurance documents, nothing could be further from the truth!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

as you know i quite enjoy the odd game of golf and recently i was lucky enough to be asked to become a Qantas Legend which involves taking part in a golf day along with forty other sporting legends over a two day period. It was an absolute honour for me to be able to say yes to such an event and a big thank you to both Qantas and David Fordham for asking me to take part.

The event is held every year and this is the fifth year of the event. The event is held on the Gold Coast and this year we were lucky enough to have four major sponsors which made it all the more memorable. Qantas are the main sponsor, flying all the sporting legends to the Gold Coast, and of course it was business class seating for the legends. Mercedes-Benz picked the legends up from the airport and drove them in style to the Palazzo Versace where we were all put up for 2 nights in absolute luxurious rooms which was a god send after 2 hard days on the golf course and of course Hope Island Golf Course was where the action was played during the two days of golf. A big thank you to the sponsors who made the event all the more memorable and also its great to know you have all signed to come on board again next year which is very exciting for all of us.

The Qantas Legends consist of so many past and present sporting greats and I have never felt so honoured in to be in the company of such icons. Let me name just a few for you............

Dawn Fraser, Pat Rafter, Ian Healy, Mark Taylor, The Big Dipper, Alystair Lynch, Tony Greig, Richie Benaud, Damian Oliver, Natalie Cook, Vicki Wilson, Chris"Budda"Handy, Nick Farr-Jones, and the list goes on and on.

So many laughs were had and also plenty of playful sledging. Why is it that on a putting green when a man putts poorly do the other men surrounding him call him by his wife or girlfriends name??????? I did not hear anyone call me "Jenno" when i putted poorly but rather they said "hard luck Nikki". After arriving at Hope Island Golf Club and meeting everone involved it was onto the course for an easy 18 holes with our teams. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic bunch of guys to play with - Ex Cricket legend and commentator Richie Benaud, Ex Wallaby player Tim Horan and QLD manager of Qantas Andrew Hogg. I had such a fun day and the boys were on their best behaviour. I must say Richie played Marvellous golf and each time he hit it well I would yell out "great shot Rich" to which Tim beside me in the cart would laugh and ask me if I was taking the mickey out of Richie!!!! I was doing no such thing but rather being supportive of a fellow team member. Andrew and Tim both played very well and on the first hole Andrew told me he was not very good at golf but he sure hit them well and ended up winning in the sponsors section. Tim and I had many laughs but we did get a bit stroppy at one stage as we were enjoying a freshly opened bag of Allens Rasberries lollies and we left them sitting in the cart whilst we took a shot and a revolting big crow flew into the cart and carried the whole bag away into a tree. After many obscenities were shouted including "I hope you choke on one of them you scavenger" we cut out losses and waited for the food cart to come around and bought a chocolate bar each!!!!!!!!

The following day of golf was the money day with each legend playing a team filled with sponsors and i had three great guys that i played with. To Geoff, Peter and Tony thank you for making my day very special and for making me laugh at your antics. Unluckily we did not win the day but we came a respectable fourth place which does not get you much!!!!!!!

A great few days had by all and a very big thankyou to David and Erica Fordham, Andrew Hogg and Qantas, Terry Jackson and The Palazzo Versace, Mercedes-Benz and Alan Meacock from Hope Island Golf Club. I am very honoured to now be a Qantas legend and i look forward to the event every year now.
