I was devastated to hear the news that Bob Jackson the father of my friend Claire suffered a fatal heart attack a couple of weeks ago. It seems we always ask the question "why do they take the good ones away from us?" For my match on the weekend with the Hockeyroos on the gold coast I wore a black armband to pay tribute to one of life's true gentlemen. Bob was a huge hockey supporter and someone who was always on the sideline cheering for Claire and our team on the weekends. He was one of the most gentle and caring men I have ever met and someone I had a great deal of admiration for. I had the pleasure of sitting with Bob at my fundraising luncheon in 2006 and he kept me laughing the whole time and to be truthful I don't think I have ever seen Bob without that big grin on his face. I have also realised that we share the same birthday. So Bob on our birthday I will be sure to have a glass of xxxx which I know was your favourite beer and I will raise it to the heavens and I will toast such a beautiful man who we will all miss very much. My love and best wishes are with Claire and Pat in their time of loss
